Benefits of Mineral Foundation
Minerals as makeup is a concept that dates back to ancient times. Egyptians used crushed gemstones on their skin and Cleopatra was famous for her elaborate kohl eyeliner. Women from other cultures, including Chinese, European and Native Americans, used natural pigments from plants and minerals to define and beautify their facial features.
Mineral foundation is simply minerals that have been crushed or milled into a fine, silky powder for application to the skin. The crushing process is called ‘micronization’.
While mineral makeup has technically been around for hundreds of years, the first commercially memorable mineral makeup was launched in San Francisco in the 1970s by Diane Ranger, a cosmetic chemist. Her mineral foundation was created especially for people with sensitive skin using the bare minimum number of ingredients. Traditional foundations contain waxes, preservatives, emollient oils, waterproof polymers, parabens and fragrances. In contrast, mineral foundation uses a handful of simple, pure, clean ingredients for healthy skin. Less ingredients can mean less chance of a reaction or skin irritation.
What’s in your Thin Lizzy Minerals?
Thin Lizzy Mineral Foundation has been formulated to provide a flawless makeup experience. It contains Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which both offer natural sun protection. You still need to wear sunblock every day to be totally sun safe. Zinc oxide has anti-inflammatory properties, so it’s good for acne. Other ingredients include light reflecting Mica, to blur imperfections for a soft-focus finish, and iron oxides for non-toxic, natural colour pigments. A number of mineral foundations contain bismuth oxychloride, which can block pores and irritate the skin, but you won’t find it in Thin Lizzy Minerals. To maximise the silky feel and texture of our minerals, we’ve included carefully selected emollients that soothe and soften the skin: Dimethicone, Magnesium Myristate, and Triethoxycaprylylsilane.Â
Thin Lizzy Mineral Foundation is a great choice for all ages and skin types. Buff it in using a circular motion with the Flawless Finish Brush. The more you buff, the more luminous the finish! It makes your skin look airbrushed, never ‘made up’. You can adjust the coverage by adding as much or as little as you need. For a dewy glow, add a spritz of your favourite finishing spray over the top. Choose from the loose powder or convenient pressed mineral compact.
Mineral makeup is the natural choice for healthy, radiant skin!
