Keeping the skin fresh and flawless is a met signature, and the deep neutral lip shade flatters Miss Chamberlain’s skin tone while simultaneously allowing her statement eye masterpiece to shine. Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish turned heads this met gala with a goth-meets-glamour look. To match her lacy black gown, Billie rocked an elegant black liner with a warm crease contour, a glossy eyelid, and let her porcelain skin and naturally blush lip tone do the talking. A natural fluffy brow kept her look beautifully classic. Her hair was styled in a sultry braid that elevated the look to a new level of chic. Playing with dark colours but still maintaining an aura of divine femininity meant that Billie’s 2023 met look was definitely one to remember.
Anok Yai
Top model Anok Yai was also in attendance, and she definitely wins the prize for the best glow! Her luminous skin was prepped and primed to perfection, allowing her to radiate a luminous shine. Aside from her gorgeous body glow, the main feature of her makeup was a glossy lip that kept things luxurious. Behind her veil she had an exaggerated cat eye to stay looking sharp and sophisticated, with a metallic inner corner for a touch of sparkle. Yai looked like a total goddess, and easily made our top 5 met gala makeup looks.
Jennie Kim
A more paired back met look that still impressed was K-pop star Jennie Kim’s makeup that was ‘oh so Chanel’. The major fashion house ambassador showed us that sometimes, less really is more, with a ‘clean girl’ look. Her flawless skin was perfected with a silky foundation that gave her an airbrushed look. Her blushy pink cheeks paired with a muted pink eyeshadow, along with the perfect shade of nude lip, created a beautiful harmony of tones that gave the look ideal cohesion. Finished with a classic black liner and natural looking lashes, Jennie Kim showed us just a subtle wash of colour is certainly enough to still make a statement. This look saw her truly live up to her nickname, ‘Human Chanel’.
Suki Waterhouse
A more creative makeup look that caught our eye at the Met was that of Suki Waterhouse. The British actress was described as “effortlessly romantic” as she graced the Met Gala’s red carpet in a sheer nude dress with intricate floral detailing. Her makeup borrowed stunning shades of green, lilac, orange and pink, from her stunning Fendi number. The water colour effect that her eyeshadow created meant that she added a pop of colour to the met gala makeup line up, but kept things subtle and paired back... effortless chic, shall we say. Her hair was in its signature do, channelling Brigette Bardot. Waterhouse’s Met look showed that this beauty is not afraid to push the boundaries, but always maintains a feel of refined sophistication.
